Whisky Parts Co. No. 7 Carbon Road Bar – Quick Look

Tuesday, December 11th, 2012

In my search for a new bar for this next season, this is an option from Whisky Parts Co. caught my attention. The No.7 Carbon Road Bar is fully packed for Whisky’s first drop bar offering.

At $285, it falls into the same price range as Easton and Ritchey’s top offerings and comes in at $100 less than the lighter-weight yet more expensive 3T and Zipp bars. (more…)

Niner Bikes Cogalicious RDO Ti Cog total kit weight 62 grams

This week, stock arrived for the all-new Niner Bikes’ Cogalicious RDO Ti Cog. Designed for top-end performance, the kit features a machined Ti cog, aluminum spacers and aluminum lock ring.

The cog is spec’d at 26 grams, but our sample weighed 28 grams; the complete kit weighs in at 62 grams. Niner provides enough spacers of various widths to let you fine-tune the cog position. Tooth position on the cog is thoughtfully designed, too — the teeth are offset just a hair to allow you to flip it and dial-in that fit just a little better. (more…)

Meet the 2013 Salsa Warbird Ti

A few weeks ago, we got a chance to visit with Justin and Eric from Salsa Cycles, along with a few samples of their 2013 product lineup. While Salsa’s 2013 specs have been available online for some weeks now, it was great to meet these bikes in person.

The Warbird was no exception. Among the new lineup, the Warbird has been hotly discussed due to its unique, gravel-specific design and geometry. Available in two flavors — aluminum and titanium — each is offered as a frameset or a complete bike. In the couple of months since Salsa’s 2013 product info hit the web, we’ve seen that demand for Warbirds is high — this model will be in very short supply. (more…)

Whisky Parts Co. has been working hard over the last year. They’re producing thru-axle carbon forks for road and cross as well as a new line of clothing. The forks are top tier performance driven products as you’ll see from some of the features mentioned in the video. The clothing is simple, well designed and very affordable. The highlight feature is that it’s simple designs and low key graphics make it very attractive for the riders who don’t want flash and loud color.

Thursday, September 27th, 2012

Just a handful of years ago, Schwalbe wasn’t that well known as a major tire brand, at least not here in the States. Now it’s hard to go anywhere and not see some of their products. A large number of brands have been spec’ing them OEM and customers have been buying everything we can get our hands on. Let’s take a look at what’s new for 2013. Make sure to check out some of our other coverage from last week.

Whisky Parts Co. 2013 Preview @ Saddle Drive ’12

Monday, August 6th, 2012

tf-img_1939 Showcased at the front of the Whisky booth during Saddle Drive was the new no. 9 fork. The no. 9 is Whisky’s innovative new disc carbon road/cross fork that uses a shortened version of Rock Shox’s 15mm Maxle system. The new thru axle design will help stiffen up the fork and give riders more confidence in descents and during out-of-the-saddle standing efforts. The Maxle will also help reduce the stress on the fork caused by disc brakes. Whisky forks are built in a three part layup that is purpose built to offer stiffness and structure near the thru-axle, compliance and absorption in the center of the blades and an extra solid crown design for durability and added stiffness.

Foundry Launch Party Recap

Banner

With the public introduction back in December, last night was our chance to celebrate Foundry Cycles. We were fortunate to be able to pull Jason (Foundry Brand Manager) and Rob (Foundry Sales Manager) away from the everyday routine for a night of talking about bikes over beer and nachos. It was a great opportunity for the local market to finally get to see the bikes up close and in person and meet just a few of the folks who have made it possible. In addition to the bikes, Whisky Parts Co. was kind enough to send along some new production handlebars, seat posts and forks for everyone to drool over. And Honey Stingers was gracious enough to send along waffles for the Jarod Toss.
